Life Member

The award of Life Member may be granted to members who have given long and distinguished service in the cause of physical education.

The honour is given sparingly. In general, it is given only when the service rendered has been nationwide and outstanding in nature. It was first awarded in 1983.

Eligibility

The nominee will have been a member of Physical Education New Zealand for a minimum of twenty-five years.

Current Physical Education New Zealand staff, Board Members, contractors and/or consultants are not eligible.

An overseas professional physical educator, who is now a New Zealand resident and who has been a member of Physical Education New Zealand for not fewer than fifteen years and who meets the prescribed criteria, may be considered for a Life Membership Award.

Life membership will carry one vote in the affairs of Physical Education New Zealand.

Criteria

The nominee shall have met the following criteria:

1: The nominee has demonstrated long and distinguished contributions on behalf of Physical Education New Zealand that supports the purposes and practice of physical education at a national level.

2: The nominee has made long and distinguished contributions to the physical education profession in a way that expands and advances the knowledge, use. Their  contributions reflect the vision and purpose of Physical Education New Zealand.

 3: The nominee has contributed long and distinguished leadership of Physical Education New Zealand by fulfilling various roles as a role model, a professional, a leader and advocate for physical education.

4. The nominee has also contributed to the leadership of Physical Education New Zealand by fulfilling various roles in the governance and/or management of Physical Education New Zealand at the national and regional level.

5: The nominee has regularly disseminated information to the physical education fraternity as a way of advancing the knowledge and practice of physical education.

Nomination Requirements

The nominator will need the following information in order to complete the online submission:

  • The nominee’s name, organisations, job title, and email.
  • The nominator ‘s name, organisation, and email.
  • The nomination also needs to be endorsed by another Physical Education New Zealand. You’ll need to add their name and email details in the form.
  • An endorsement by a non-member of Physical Education New Zealand can be included with the nomination.
  • If you wish to enclose another endorsement, please enter the person’s full name and email.
  • Then the nominator will need to provide a comprehensive statement that reflects the five criteria in explaining why the nominee in your view is worthy of being awarded a life Member of Physical Education New Zealand (maximum 1500 words).
