NZ Drug Foundation

Tūturu is a uniquely Aotearoa approach that helps schools and health providers work together, so that students can learn, be well, and be prepared for a world where alcohol and other drugs exist.

The approach is complemented by resources and guides that have been developed and trialed by New Zealand schools and health services. An independent evaluation by the New Zealand Council for Educational Research found that Tūturu “has changed the focus from punitive to pastoral.”

New Zealand Sailing Trust and Auckland Sea Kayaks are both outdoor education, youth development and tourism providers operating in the Tīkapa Moana / Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. Our programmes encourage both New Zealanders and international Manuhiri to get active in the great outdoors.

The NZ Sailing Trust was established with a vision of creating opportunities for New Zealanders to share a unique maritime experience on Sir Peter Blake’s iconic Whitbread Round the World Yachts.  Auckland Sea Kayaks take pride in delivering in tourism industry and more recently pivoting to work with education sector to engage our rangatahi to experience the outdoors.

NZ Sailing Trust and Auckland Sea Kayaks have partnered to deliver a 5 day Sailing and Kayaking Youth Development Programme and more specifically an all female programme called Hine Moana.  We work to the needs of the students and the school to create memorable and in some cases life changing experiences.

We will be delivering a workshop about partnering for impact to achieve better learning outcomes in the outdoors.

Toi Mai

Toi Mai Workforce Development Council has been established to meet the needs of our industries today – and into the future. We represent the creative, cultural, recreational and technology sectors, which includes sport, exercise and outdoor recreation.

We are one of six new workforce development councils (WDCs) established in October 2021 as part of the government’s major Reform of Vocational Education (RoVE) and training provision. Adventure Works

Adventure Works is committed to supporting school outdoor education programmes. We are now providing the NZQA Level 4 and Level 5 Outdoor Instructor Qualifications in strands (bush, kayak, mountain biking, rock, abseil, caving, high ropes) for teachers who have some experience in these activities. The training is designed to fit around work and includes face-to-face technical skills training and assessment and fully supported online video-based learning content.

Adventure Works is led by Mark Mandeno, a former teacher and Head of Department Outdoor Education. We know the difficulties that schools experience trying to provide good quality outdoor education programmes and we know that qualified competent teachers make a big difference to the student’s experience and the opportunities that the school can provide.
