The Physical Education Big Ideas
There are four Big Ideas in physical education – one overarching Big Idea (Movement is integral to hauora), and three which explore the central strands of physical education, in, through, and about movement.
Learning in, through and about physical activity or movement is a framework that emanates from the work of Arnold. (For full explanations on this framework see Arnold (1979), Culpan (2000) and or Health and Physical Education in the New Zealand Curriculum, (Ministry of Education. 1999)). This framework helps our ākonga | students to explore how movement is integral to human expression, and makes a significant contribution to enhancing their lives.
