#EinPE Dynamic Systems Theory
With the simple instruction to “make a up an obstacle course and see what you can come up with”, this video shows how at 8 years old, Karen’s energetic and creative daughter utilises all the body systems interacting together to move through her course. As described by the Dynamic Systems theory, she is simultaneously required to engage in thinking tasks, move her body, manipulate equipment, whilst at the same time develop her fitness and stamina. This activity is student-centred (Mosston’s student-centred ownership of learning) but there are still opportunities throughout to ask questions to encourage greater creativity if required. In conjunction with the Dynamic system theory, teachers can include a motor skill learning focus or links to relevant biomechanical knowledge and understanding.
